Ogwang Clipper: “Auma is a traditional Acholi name for a girl. The particular girl in this song happens to be very beautiful, but the problem is that she often uses foul language. Furthermore, she is not able to maintain a marriage and likes to insult her mother in law. In short, Auma is a disgrace to the family.

Ogwang Clipper plays ‘nanga’, a traditional instrument with seven nylon strings in a wooden box. Clipper is one of the most experienced and respected nanga players in northern Uganda. He performs with his female counterpart on vocals and his dancers with whistle and bells. Even his broken foot in plaster didn’t keep Clipper from coming all the way from his village to Kitgum town to perform this song.
